Being born and raised in Texas for most of my life is like being an automatic member of an awesome club!!! This past weekend I went to El Rastro, which is a giant open-air flea market. I was speaking to my friend in English, and the woman behind me overheard and asked me how much the poster I was purchasing cost. I told her how much it was and then she asked me where I was from. When I told her Texas she grabbed me and BEAR hugged me! It turns out she was from Katy and her friend was from El Paso, and they decided to come visit Spain. I love that how even several thousand miles away there is still that sense of family among fellow Texans! GO TEXAS :) I mean, I love America and all, but it's not the same if I were to encounter someone from let's say, Iowa or Connecticut....or Oregon. The same sense of family can be said for my follow Louisianians as well. Sorry to the folks from other states...I like you guys too.
On Sunday I'm going to a Corrida de Toros (bullfight). I got seats waaaaay at the top just in case the toro (bull) gets any ideas about crowd surfing. I may also go to an Atletico Madrid soccer match. I wish I could go to a Real Madrid match, but those tickets are out this world expensive. I'll probably take a tour of the stadium some time before I leave as well.
And the big news of the day! The plan for Semana Santa (Holy Week = my spring break) is to backpack through Italia for 10 days! The tentative route is as follows: Milan --> Venice --> Reggio Calabria --> Naples --> Rome --> Florence --> Cinque Terre --> back to Milan. I am SO excited.
Well, homework and other adventures of Madrid await me.
Have a wonderful day!

Hi Asha!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog. You will love Italy! The Italian boys are smooth talkers--some are very handsome.... But I am sure you will be there to go to museums. :0) Mendy
Your Oregon comment offends me. However, I still love you. Lol. Love, jena
