I'm a Wanderer

It's lovely not having classes on Fridays! I met up with mi amiga, Joanna, for lunch. We were originally going to have lunch on her side of town, but I remembered the Cerveceria Cruz de Malta right below me had a cheap menú del día (menu of the day). So we decided to go there instead. Great choice! The food was wonderful, and the camarero (waiter) was very nice. One thing to note, in Spain, it is not necessary to tip waiters, because they are salaried and the tip is included in the price of food. However, it's always nice to tip a really good waiter.

Some interesting artwork in the Metro.

That's my European look!

Tarta de Bosque (Berry Tart) TO DIE FOR!!! Deliciosa!
My meal consisted 2 courses, desert, and a drink. My primer plato (first plate) was a stuffed green pepper. My second plate was a puree de patata (mashed potatoes) and some roast beef with gravy.
Quite a nice Friday afternoon. After lunch a siesta followed by none other than the infamous HOMEWORK!

Saturday morning I woke up to this interesting spectacle. A prankster put soap in the fountain! It was sooooo cold that day. In fact, a few days later it was frozen over. Brrrr!

On Sunday we went to little coffee shop called Café Alma. I had a croissant and tea/mint infusion! On the walk there we came across this statue. From what I could gather (the caption was of course in Spanish) this statue was used to commemorate an influential group of abodagos (lawyers) here in Madrid.

After tea time and a bout of UN-productivity, we went wandering through the streets of Madrid. Here are some of things that we saw.

The Madrid College of Medicine

The Reina Sofia Museum

Atocha Train Station

Not sure what kind of restaurant this is, but the hand was cool.

Hasta luego!
